Moments. That’s really all we have while they’re little.

One day you’re rocking them to sleep in the dim glow of a nursery light, and the next—they’re seven years old, flying down the driveway on a bike, laughing without looking back. And you wonder... when did those chubby baby cheeks disappear? When did his wispy blonde curls turn into a head of brown hair?

It happens quietly. Slowly, then all at once.

Take the video. Take the photo. Set up the tripod, or hire someone to do it for you. Just—savour them. Freeze time while you can, because these little everyday moments become the memories your heart will ache for later.

Someone once told me, “the days are long, but the years are short.” I laughed at the time—tired and deep in the trenches of having my first baby. But now? I’d give anything for just five more minutes. Five more minutes to kiss their soft little cheeks and get lost in those big blue eyes.

Motherhood is a blur—but photos can help us hold on to what matters.

Love always,

Shania
